Deck Interview- The Good Tarot

I LOVE Colette Baron-Reid’s oracle decks.  I mean, LOVE.  The Enchanted Map is my go to oracle, and it began giving me eerily accurate and insightful readings right out of the box.  Usually I spend some time absorbing the energy of a deck, but it came already packed full.

So when my sister showed me that she had obtained this deck, I knew I had to have it.  She gave me a powerful reading with it, and I knew that it would have that same insight.  The art is mesmerizing as well, deeply archetypal with evocative colors and incredible depth.

I’ve spent some time getting to know this deck already, and have already used it for readings.  It’s gentle but truthful, and delivers its message in beauty.  My only real issue with it is that the cardstock is so thick and luxurious, the cards so large, that it’s really difficult to shuffle with my arthritic hands.  It’s a small price to pay to hold such a powerful tool.

  1.  Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?  5 of Fire reversed-  This is a great deck for problem solving, for working out solutions to problems.  This will help to diffuse struggles and help find new opportunities.
  2. What are your strengths as a deck?  Queen of Earth-  This deck is very grounded, practical, caring and nurturing.  It’s very much like a mother or grandmother that gives you good, solid advice based on experience and understanding.
  3. What are your limits as a deck?  9 of Earth reversed-  It can’t promise to help you find security and stability.  You must do the work yourself.  It can only show you the path to being authentic, not necessarily grounded, stable, or secure.
  4. What are you here to teach me?   8 of Water-  It will help me to put the past behind me, and walk away from the things that are holding me back from spiritual enlightenment.  It will help me set healthy boundaries, and shed negativity.
  5. How can I best learn and collaborate with you?  6 of Water reversed-  I can work with my past to uncover the disappointments and pain that I keep bringing forth into the present.  I can work through it to let go and move forward.
  6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?  7 of Earth-  I will see a return on the investment of time and resources I’ve put into tarot.  I will earn the rewards of my hard work.  Not a bonus from nowhere, or unlimited wealth and security, but solid remuneration for my hard work.

How cool!  I can’t wait to work more with this deck too.  I like that it seems practical, and is good at cutting unhealthy ties to the past.  That’s something that I tend to do a lot of work with, since I seem to NEED to do a lot of that sort of work.  It looks like it will help me move on in this new phase in my life, and that’s fabulous and positive.  I’m in!
