Ostara has always been a favorite sabbat of mine. The first ritual I ever put together and performed was on Ostara. I was enamoured. I felt the new life of Spring coursing through my body, I felt the sacredness of the change of seasons, I felt the magick of the Goddess in her transformation. I dedicated myself to my path the following Beltane.
Usually, I prepare for Ostara by doing a fruit smoothie fast for 3 or more days beforehand. This year, I kinda forgot. So in the spirit of eating clean and celebrating the season, I made a big-ass salad.

Usually for sabbats, I like to use seasonal produce. However, our local farmer’s market had some really good Summer produce that I couldn’t pass up for our Spring salad. We started with artisan Spring greens, then tossed them with sweet onion dressing. I then added an avocado, a boiled egg, mango ginger stilton, chick peas, blackberries, and sunflower seeds. TASTY!
I wrote out a long post about some things I’ve been going through and some changes I’ve been feeling, and then I realized how boring that is to read. It was boring to write. I deleted it. So suffice it to say that I’ve been going through some things and feeling some changes.
I’ve been stuck for so long that I haven’t really known how to do better or get better. But now it’s time for me to do something different, be someone different, be someone better. I’m ready for it. I need to rebirth myself.
A friend suggested a ritual where I invoke the sun. I’ve never really worked with solar energy, and maybe that’s part of the problem. Usually I work with the gentler energies of the moon and the earth, but I need a big boost, even if it seems a little harsh. Yesterday would have been the ideal day for that, but I didn’t want to hurriedly put something together. I want to do some research and get some inspiration. I’m looking forward to it.
I’m also wanting to move back towards a more vegetarian diet. We’ve been vegetarian before, but then we slipped, and slipped some more, and then BOOM, we were meat-eaters. I want to eat cleaner, healthier, and more consciously.
I have a feeling there will be some spa treatments and a magickal bath in there somewhere too. We shall see. Expect to see me post some recipes for herbal baths/incense/whatever else I come up with to help me in this. Also, I’ll probably write another post on stones for renewal and transformation.
